Operation GB The Search for a World War II Mystery Submarine by Wm. J. Veigele, Ph. D., USNR (Ret)

In April 1945, the United States Navy submarine chaser patrol craft USS PC 793 patrolled for Japanese submarines near Adak Island in the Aleutians. It attacked a Japanese submarine. Debris surfaced. Though the navy did not confirm the attack, members of the crew of PC 793 were convinced they sank a submarine. This story is based on that true incident.

In 1970, a United States Navy group, aboard USS Nez Perce, ATA 131, searches near Adak Island in the Aleutians for a sunken World War II Japanese submarine. They endure Williwaw storms and the perils of diving in the frigid Bering Sea. Divers find the submarine and discover a weapon aboard labeled, GB. Then the struggles for GB begin with assassins from a secret Japanese Society, a Navy traitor, and Muslim terrorists.

1970 Pete Charleson fights to prove that during World War II his ship sank a Japanese submarine in the Aleutians. An assassin from the secret Japanese society, The Order, tries to kill him. The attacks on Charleson convince Vice Admiral, Darco, and his assistant, Lieutenant Commander Helen Vincent, to go to the Aleutians and search for the submarine. Divers find it, and Vincent discovers, from its log book, that it carries a powerful weapon, labeled GB, kept secret since 1945 by Japan and America. A battle for control of GB erupts among The Order, a Muslim terrorist, and Charleson. The outcome of their struggle could rewrite history, destroy the world balance of power, and start a Third Nuclear World War.

A fast paced story with intrigue, suspense, and exciting naval actions.

Interesting plot and surprising and shocking discovery of what was on the boat.

It arouses suspicions about secret weapons of World War II.

The romantic element is clean, sincere, and surprising.
